SAUL / SAUL Plus in Arnhem-Nijmegen
The region of Arnhem-Nijmegen did not participate in the original SAUL/SAUL Plus project.
CURRENT PROJECT - SAUL 2 EXT
As a new SAUL partner, the city-region of Arnhem-Nijmegen,
represented by Staatsbosbeheer,
is committed to creating a new regional park in the Overbetuwe.
Joining SAUL will bring new ideas and experience into the region,
with input from other regions that have already experienced, or
are mid-way through a similar process. SAUL 2 EXT will evaluate
the Arnhem-Nijmegen strategy and prepare advice for the park Steering
Group. SAUL lessons of inclusive participation to involve citizens
more proactively in the park development process will be useful
in ensuring the parks sustainability, and public participation workshops
will raise awareness about the parks value. SAUL 2 EXT will also
set up an expert team to assess an IBA proposal, and establish connections
with the huge economic activity which is occurring to the east of
the park in the form of one of the Netherlands biggest greenhouse
developments.
